During the demolition phases, all steel was separated and sold to recyclers, stone and cement rubble was sorted and crushed on-site and re-used as gravel for the new parking lot. The front line vehicle display area is paved with pervious pavement designed by the UNH Stormwater Center. Pervious pavement treats storm water while eliminating run off, eliminating inefficient retention ponds that require maintenance and breed mosquitoes. The other “green” it saves is the efficient use of property valued at over $1 million dollars an acre.
Operation savings are achieved with Energy Star appliances, computers, lights, timers and refinished furniture! Special Glass and insulation were used extensively. Separate dumpsters for paper, plastic, tires, metal and cardboard save money on disposal fees. Recycling oil products from vehicle servicing provide heat for the building and hot water.
